A family business for 70 years

In 1955, Hugo Beck founded the company of the same name. Under his leadership the business grew from a local one-man operation in the Swabian town of Dettingen/Erms near Stuttgart, into a medium-sized company operating worldwide. Since the 1960s, our founder developed and built customer specific machines to provide flexible solutions across a variety of mechanical engineering applications.

Today, the family-run company, now in its third generation, is a leader in the horizontal film and paper packaging sector and is represented by a network of partners worldwide.

Wherever it says Hugo Beck, Hugo Beck quality is what you get. A promise that is kept 100 per cent of the time. Our state-of-the-art, in-house project planning and manufacturing processes ensure we can react to virtually all our customers' needs. We design, construct and produce your packaging solution, either as a stand-alone system, or as a highly automated complete solution that we safely integrate into production environments. We provide both the hardware and software for each application.

We also look back on decades of development tradition when it comes to automation.

Our customer service team consists of over 100 qualified technicians who undertake our machine installations and provide maintenance around the world.

Operating in conjunction with our customised service and maintenance packages, this comprehensive support ensures our machines deliver total reliability and availability in a production environment.

We supply a complete range of spare parts for each of our machines, and if we don't have them in stock, we can manufacture spares for older machines on request.

Sustainability

Hugo Beck is well known for its innovative, state-of-the-art technological developments and it is the same with regards to sustainability. From early on, we have been committed to operating in an environmentally responsible way, and we continue to focus on this each day, with a variety of measures guaranteeing clean, energy-saving and efficient production processes in our business.

For many years, we have been focusing on the development of innovative machine technology for the industry and retail sector, making packaging as resource-efficient and sustainable as possible. Examples are our patented tight packaging and flexible machine solutions which allow the production of film and paper packaging on just one machine.

Chamber of Commerce training company

With a trainee quota of around 10 percent of our staff, the development of junior team members has always been a high priority at Hugo Beck. In our 70-year history, over 300 trainees have successfully completed their training with us.

Memberships

VDMA: Since 1989, HUGO BECK has been a member of the VDMA trade associations Food and packaging machinery as well as Printing and paper technology. With around 3,300 members, the VDMA is the largest network organisation and an important voice for the mechanical engineering industry in Germany and Europe.

Packaging Valley: Since 2025, we have been a member of Packaging Valley. The association is the world’s most innovative cluster for the packaging industry and connects more than 100 companies. These include manufacturers of packaging machines and packaging systems, providers of software and automation solutions, component manufacturers, service providers for the packaging industry and public institutions.

Awards

HUGO BECK has already received the TOP 100 award four times, recognising the most innovative companies in Germany’s SME sector. Following awards in 2006, 2011 and 2016, we once again impressed the jury in 2022 during the selection process, which focuses on innovation management and innovation success.

Since 1993, compamedia has presented the TOP 100 seal to medium-sized companies demonstrating exceptional innovative strength and above-average innovation success. Since 2002, the scientific management of the competition has been led by Professor Dr Nikolaus Franke. Professor Franke is the founder and Director of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. With 25 research awards and more than 200 publications, he is internationally recognised as one of the leading researchers in the field of innovation.
