The session will conclude with an interactive discussion on economic and technical challenges.

Lecture: “EU Packaging Regulation: Current Developments and Industry Implications”
The new EU packaging regulation PPWR comes with a large number of changes and poses challenges for the packaging industry, not least due to ongoing uncertainties. The aim of the presentation is to provide an overview of the contents of the PPWR as well as practice-oriented impulses for dealing with the new requirements and a well-founded understanding of the regulatory developments.
Lecture: “Sustainability Assessments vs. Consumer Perception of Packaging”
Countless products and packaging claim to be sustainable - but do they really live up to their claims? And will such environmental and sustainability claims be allowed once the new European Green Claims Regulation comes into force? What follows is a critical examination of how sustainability can be assessed and how this may conflict with consumer perception and acceptance.
